On invitation from the Night of the Unexpected, Percussion the Hague gave a very succeful concert in Paradiso in the Uitmarkt. Six hundred people listened closely to pieces of Glass, Aperghis and Guo Wenjing. Artistic direcor Fedor Teunisse’s presentation gave a a nice informal touch. Percussion the Hague will also be performing in the upcoming Night of the Unexpected. That percussion is also writing on a chalkboard with pieces of chalk will be demonstrated in a piece by Mayke Nas and Wouter Snoei. The work ‘Words and Beyond: Hwang Jin-Yi’ – with mezzo soprano Margriet van Reisen – by the winner of the Toonzettersprijs 2010 (Composer’s Award) Seung-Ah Oh, which was inspired by Korean traditions and symbolics. These two works will be performed in Amsterdam and Eindhoven. Specifically for the Utrecht edition, which takes place in the Gaudeamus Musicweek, ‘Venus of Rozalie Hirs will be performed.
